In Uganda, most visitors decline the locals’ “Push & Pull” service, but after trekking Bwindi Impenetrable National Park steep trails, the $10 each way investment proves worth it. An hour with a silverback family is unforgettable. Our daughter Natashja still recalls a young gorilla nudging her aside, “touched by an angel.”; the gorillas’ given name by the guides. In Madagascar, the French owner of Le Lodge set his own time zone so guests rise early to see lemurs. The Okavango Delta, in Botswana and Luangwa Valley are truly Gardens of Eden.
